Promoting environmental tourism

A place where people want to visit and people want to live and work

The Black Country already has many fine 'industrial heritage' attractions including its extensive canal network, which are all critical elements of its visitor appeal. The wildlife and natural aspect of the canal network along with the area's industrial heritage make it a natural focus for tourism. Black Country Living Landscape supports the proposal to designate the Black Country's canal network as a World Heritage site as with such status the number of visitor will increase even further. The project will also help with delivery of sub-regional and regional visitor strategies. For example helping to establish long distance and local footpaths, as well as improving the image and profile of natural greenspace.
