A place where people and wildlife thrive side by side.
The word 'biodiversity' is short for 'biological diversity' and refers to the variety of all living things on our planet and the patterns they form. It includes the differences between species, the difference within species, and the range of habitats in which they live.
The Black Country is the only urban region in the UK that has put biodiversity and the enhancement of urban wildlife habitats at the heart of its regeneration strategies. Key to all this is the Black Country Biodiversity Action Plan; a guide on how to manage, enhance and recreate nature. Black Country Living Landscape will provide an overall framework to guide and encourage delivery of the Biodiversity Action Plan. By redirecting existing effort and attracting in new resources to the area, a step change in BAP delivery is anticipated. The project will deliver measurable improvements across all the Black Country's BAP targets and achieve the habitat targets in the Regional Spatial Strategy.
